EDITOR Dr David Campbell comments in his column 'Tackling remote problem' (Gut Feelings, 28 July) that a fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine will confer access to Medicare rebates, urban, rural or remote.

Surely the aim of a rural college is to train for rural medicine which is, according to the rurals, so different from urban general practice.

I would suggest an important role of the FACRRM is to help solve the rural workforce crisis, giving access to Medicare rebates in rural areas, to the exclusion of the so different urban ...
