Clinic sale sparked battle for patients.

PATIENT ownership had been an issue for the doctors at the Sydney Skin Cancer Clinic for five years before its 2002 sale, according to evidence presented to the NSW Supreme Court.

Arguments over patients had led to a list of waiting room rules being drawn up -- apparently to stop doctors electing to see older patients "with a lot of damaged skin" ahead of younger people who had been waiting longer.

The list of rules began with a statement in bold capitals: "All patients belong to the clinic not the doctor".
