SMOKING OUT SELLERS

ACT Children as young as 15 will act as undercover agents for the ACT Government in order to discover if cigarettes are being sold to minors.

The move is part of legislation to help prevent such sales.

ACT Health Minister Ms Katy Gallagher said about 17% of 16-17-year-olds in the ACT smoked regularly, and the availability of cigarettes was a major contributing factor.

Those taking part will not be paid and must have written approval from a guardian.
