BMJ GPs stuck for a diagnosis in a difficult case can forget about conventional references and instead turn to Internet search engine Google for the answer, Australian research suggests.
Researchers found Google came up with the correct diagnosis in 15 of 26 cases chosen from the New England Journal of Medicine -- including Cushing's syndrome and infective endocarditis.
"Our study suggested that in difficult diagnostic cases it if often useful to 'google for a diagnosis'," they said.
