GPs resolving to practise what they preach and strike that elusive work-life balance in 2007 could be on the path to their best year yet -- if the experience of two of their colleagues is anything to go by.

This year Adelaide GP Dr Nykola Wolianskyj changed his lifestyle and lost 60kg, while Dr Ed Olszewski went helicopter hiking in Canada, returning to his general practice in Forrestfield, WA, revitalised.

Both GPs told the Australian Doctor Christmas survey that 2006 was their best-ever year in general practice.
