MJA Low-risk drinkers and those who rarely drink heavily account for more than half the alcohol-related absenteeism in Australia, a report suggests.
The latest findings linking low-level drinking with productivity losses overturn earlier research that dramatically underestimated the scope and cost of alcohol-related sick days.
"This is due to the much larger numbers of workers who drink at these levels compared with the number of workers who frequently drink at risky or high-risk levels," the authors said.
