Clinics overcome RU486 barrier.(mifepristone)(Marie Stopes International)

A LEADING sexual health care provider is preparing to offer medical abortions to Australian women using methotrexate off-label.

Marie Stopes International has announced it will roll out the service, which uses methotrexate in combination with misoprostol, to its eight clinics across the country in the new year, after positive results from a NSW pilot program.

Operations manager Ms Jill Michelson said the option had been explored because of delays with access to mifepristone (RU486).
