ZIMBABWE'S SICK PAY THE PRICE FOR RECESSION
ZIMBABW E Hospitals in Zimbabwe are unable to afford basic medication such as painkillers and hypertension drugs due to a long-term recession that has seen inflation rates of more than 1000%. The Statesman, a Ghana-based newspaper, reports that major hospitals have no radiotherapy machines and rely on church donations for chemotherapy drugs. The hospitals are also experiencing a major brain drain of staff to countries including Australia, while existing staff have held strikes in recent weeks over their meagre pay. ...
