HUNDREDS of general practices will be visited by Medicare Australia inspectors in a nationwide investigation into the potential abuses of Chronic Disease Management plans.

The move forms part of a crackdown on Medicare rorts involving a raft of MBS items, including those subsidising GP skin cancer services, heart check clinics and allied health professionals (see box, right).
