MJA Doubts have been raised about the reliability of pharmaceutical product information, with a study revealing instances of outdated advice that could affect patient outcomes.

Several cases of inadequate, inaccurate or outdated recommendations have been uncovered in a review of product information for thyroid-related medications.

The study, published in the Medical Journal of Australia (15 January), compared the latest evidence with recommendations given in widely used prescribing reference manuals, which are based on product information.
