BEES BUG BRAZIL TOURISTS

Tourists visiting remote national parks in Brazil face more danger from bee stings than from anacondas, giant spiders or other ferocious beasts. A survey of travellers, guides and health professionals found that after bee stings, minor injuries and allergies were the next most common incidents, followed by sunburn and diarrhoea, though many visitors expressed concern about the risks from falling stones, dangerous walkways and other physical perils (Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease 2007; 5:1-6).
