THE right of NSW doctors to appeal a medical board suspension via the courts will be curbed under proposed new laws, raising concerns doctors could be denied rights enjoyed by other members of the community.
The changes proposed by the NSW Government stem from an urgent review prompted by the case of Dr Suman Sood, the Sydney GP who was last year convicted of illegally procuring an abortion.
The NSW Medical Board had earlier suspended Dr Sood, but the suspension was overturned on appeal to the Supreme Court.
