BLOOD donors should be given tax breaks on their travel expenses in a bid to boost donation rates with Australia facing a major shortage of plasma products, according to an independent Federal Government review.

The biggest concern is about the supply of intravenous immunoglobulins used to treat several conditions from chronic fatigue syndrome to prophylaxis for those at risk of hepatitis A, measles or poliomyelitis.
