FOR most people Rio de Janeiro means carnival. But if crowds and inflated prices aren't for you, consider visiting Rio during the winter months.
When we visited Rio in winter, we were treated to continuous blue skies and a constant balmy temperature of 30ºC - warm enough to enjoy the beaches and, if you're brave enough, wear a tiny bikini.
