BEI Associates, Inc., a Detroit-based architectural and engineering firm, appointed Patrick J. Smithbauer, P.E., L.E.E.D., vice president.

Smithbauer joins BEI from Ghafari Associates, where he held a similar position. He brings over 35 years of experience as a corporate officer, sales executive, project manager, and design engineer in the architectural/engineering field. He is a founding member and vice president of the U.S. Green Building Council Detroit Regional Chapter and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified professional. Smithbauer holds bachelor and master of science degrees in civil engineering from Wayne State University and a master of business administration degree from Wayne State University.
