Jaguar plans cuts
Jaguar may not rehire many of its 500 contract workers at its Halewood, England, factory that builds the X-type sedan. Jaguar plans to cut about 200 line workers and support staff when their contracts end in February and March.
Jaguar spokesman Colin Cook said the action had "nothing to do" with X-type sales underperforming in Europe and the USA.
A similar strategy had been used at Jaguar's factory in Castle Bromwich, England, for the S-type, Cook said. The extra workers were needed for the production ramp-up, but once the assembly line was in ...
