It is no surprise that the new Volkswagen Polo supermini has many of the larger Golf's attributes. Horst Koenig was program manager for both cars.
Like the Golf, the Polo was designed to appear solid and long-lasting. Its design is deliberately restrained, said Koenig.
``We don't have stylistic extravagances on the Polo because they often make a car age rapidly," he said. ``[The supermini segment] is a relatively conservative environment."
