The Nissan revival plan has transformed the fortunes of European suppliers in Japan.
The plan was launched just before the Tokyo auto show in October 1999, six months after French carmaker Renault's acquisition of a controlling stake in Nissan.
Following the plan's announcement, European suppliers moved quickly to establish tie-ups with Japanese companies, driven by the need to establish a global network to serve Renault and Nissan's new platforms. And now, shared platforms between DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi have been added to the mix.
