The overall number of monthly visitors to European carmakers' consumer websites rose sharply between July and September.

The number of visitors increased by 10.3 percent compared to the previous quarter, as surveyed by Autometrics, a research group in London working in conjunction with Nielsen Net//Ratings.

The survey covers 60,000 home-based Internet users in 14 European countries. Autometrics claims its ongoing survey is the first to assess Internet activity for auto company websites in Europe. Automotive News Europe publishes the results on a quarterly basis.
