Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedNew Fiesta sparks assembly line changes.
Automotive News Europe, January, 2002 by Rechtin, Mark
Ford has efficiency and innovation goals while it completely changes Fiesta assembly at Cologne. But the main objective is higher quality.
By February 13, Ford expects to be ready for regular production of the new Fiesta supermini. It's a big changeover because Ford is replacing a design - and a manufacturing process - that was 11 years old, a very long product cycle.
So Ford is ripping out the old Fiesta assembly line and installing the new manufacturing equipment. That changeover should take about two weeks.
