When Pinin met Henry Ford for lunch.

In the spring of 1920, young Battista "Pinin" Farina sailed for America in hopes of seeing Henry Ford's factory.

It was a bold decision by the 27-year-old, who was working at the time in his older brother's body shop. It was 10 years before Pinin would set up his own coachbuilding firm in Turin.

Actually, it was Pinin's mother who urged him to go. He sailed from Genoa to New York. The voyage lasted two weeks.

He stayed in America for a month and spent the rest of his life talking about the things he saw and did there, like meeting Henry Ford.
