Automotive News Europe, February, 2002 by Weernink, Wim Oude
Volkswagen has been jolted by poor results in a series of customer satisfaction surveys.
The complaints have led Europe's largest carmaker to launch a major effort to improve its brand image with consumers.
Detlef Wittig, board member for the Volkswagen brand, said VW's initiatives include increasing dealer employee training, improving parts distribution and paying dealers more to speed repairs and make customers happier.
In addition, VW is planning a whole new level of customer satisfaction efforts for the introduction later this year of its luxury sedan, the Phaeton.
