Renegotiating union contracts could help solve a crisis at a US plant operated by Valeo, says CEO Thierry Morin.
The French supplier's US unit, Valeo Electrical Systems, filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in mid-December. Under US law, that gives Valeo protection from creditors while it continues to operate the plant in Rochester, New York, and other operations.
Valeo's management says a contract with Rochester's unions sets wages at an uncompetitive level.
"This will be the year when Rochester untangles," said Morin.
