BMW plans to export vehicles built in Thailand to other Southeast Asian countries beginning next year.
BMW will export its Thai-built 3-series and 5-series models across the region, company officials told reporters while reviewing BMW's 2001 sales results in Asia. They declined to say how many might be exported from Thailand or what production volumes for the Thai plant will be this year.
The plan may include 7-series cars as well. BMW is still deciding whether to build the 7-series at its first wholly owned plant in Asia.
