Bosch consolidated its position as the world's second largest automotive supplier after Delphi last year, but expects only slight sales growth in 2002.

Sales in Bosch's automotive business increased 3 percent to E23.2 billion last year.

Growth was mostly driven by diesel direct-injection systems, but Bosch also saw sales gains in antilock brakes, electronic stability programs and vehicle navigation systems.

Bosch's key new product launch for the year was electro-hydraulic brakes, introduced on the Mercedes-Benz SL as sensotronic brake control (SBC).
