Automotive News Europe, February, 2002 by Rechtin, Mark
MG Rover has delayed the launch of its MG X80 supercar by one year.
Sales of the X80 coupe were due to begin this summer, with a roadster version following in 2003. But MG Rover officials said the coupe will not be launched until summer 2003, and did not give a date for the launch of the roadster.
In July 2001, MG Rover bought the Modena, Italy, subsidiary of US group Qvale Automotive with the intention of using its Mangusta model as the basis for the X80. MG Rover planned to use the X80 to relaunch the MG brand in the USA. MGs have not been sold there since 1981.
