Fiat strategy mixes tradition with innovation.

Still at the beginning of its technical cooperation with General Motors, Fiat Auto will base new models on two different platform types: traditional and so-called Fiat Frames.

Traditional platforms will be used for the Lancia Epsilon replacement, due in 2003, and for the Fiat B-MPV compact multi-purpose vehicle that will arrive in the first half of 2004.

Both these new models will be based on the Fiat B platform, introduced in 1993 with the first-generation Punto. It was heavily revised in 1999 for the second-generation model.
