Automotive News Europe, March, 2002 by Rechtin, Mark
Ford Chairman William Clay Ford Jr. praised Ford of Europe's ability to launch new products successfully and said he wants to do the same in North America.
Ford said late engineering changes have resulted in poor quality and spoiled several important launches in North America.
"We have to settle [product development] down," said Ford. "It's a question of discipline."
Ford says it has drawn "a line in the sand" with product development teams as vehicles approach Job 1.
