Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedHonda is struggling in Europe.
Automotive News Europe, March, 2002 by Weernink, Wim Oude
Honda has been a big success in Japan and the USA, but its situation in Europe keeps getting worse.
In 1998, Honda's sales in western and central Europe were more than 240,000. Last year, Honda sold only 169,992 units, an eight-year low.
"The weak euro, plus a strong UK pound had a serious impact on our sales," said Honda Motor Europe spokesman Chris Rogers.
But Honda products aren't appealing to European buyers either.
