Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedA shrunken Opel trims German dealer network.
Automotive News Europe, March, 2002 by Feast, Richard
Opel is sharply reducing German dealer numbers to reflect a substantial loss of business in its home country over the past decade.
By the end of this month, all 870 Opel dealers in Germany will receive letters that terminate their contracts. Between 450 and 470 of the dealers will be offered new contracts.
At the same time, the number of satellite sales and service points that represent Opel will be reduced from nearly 2,300 to between 1,700 and 1,800.
The result will effectively almost double the number of cars sold each year by an average Opel dealership.
