Potential for tailored tubes.

Hoogovens, Corus' Dutch division, is pioneering the development of tailored tubes for automotive use.

Tailored tubes designed for hydro-forming by suppliers have become a growth area for Hoogovens, said Jon King, director of Corus Automotive.

Normal tubes are made by cutting strips of steel, rolling them and welding along a straight seam. Tubes can be cut to length or bent as long as the tube diameter stays the same.
