BMW Korea is doing a good job of overcoming the bias against imports in South Korea.

BMW has a 35 percent share of import sales in South Korea and twice the volume of No. 2 importer Mercedes-Benz.

In a recent poll, readers of leading daily newspaper JoongAng Ilbo voted BMW as the No. 1 import brand.

Meanwhile, the hostile environment against imports appears to be easing.

"Public attitudes have changed, although there are still areas to be improved," said Kim Hyo-Joon, president of BMW Korea.
