Using telematics could save fleet managers 7 to 17 percent on operating costs, said Martin Leach, vice president for product development at Ford of Europe.

Through services such as mileage reports, route scheduling, vehicle tracking and utilization, telematics cut fleet maintenance, fuel and wages costs. Telematics raise the residual value of fleet vehicles by optimizing their use, said Leach.
