Vladimir Kadannikov, chairman of Russia's biggest carmaker AvtoVAZ, has joined the lineup of senior auto executives who will speak at this year's Automotive News Europe Congress.

Kadannikov played a key role in brokering the deal with General Motors President Rick Wagoner to build the Chevy Niva off-roader in Russia. Production of the Niva begins in Togliatti, about 1,000km southeast of Moscow, in September. The deal will likely pave the way for further cooperation between AvtoVAZ and GM.
