French automakers raised prices in Denmark in an apparent act of defiance toward the European Union's plans to change car retailing rules.
Days before the European Commission adopts a new block exemption, Renault increased pre-tax prices in Denmark by 6.5 percent. PSA/Peugeot-Citroen raised prices 3 percent in recent months. Fiat is expected to boost Danish prices, too.
PSA also increased prices in Greece and Finland, where - like Denmark - automakers traditionally cut prices to make cars more affordable after high local taxes.
