Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedLogistics unit takes over assembly tasks.
Automotive News Europe, July, 2002 by Kochan, Anna
French transport and logistics group Bils Deroo is helping cut final assembly time by changing the way it does business. Simastock, its biggest logistics subsidiary, is taking on small subassembly work - and promising a cheaper and better job.
It's part of a growing trend among logistics companies to help suppliers deliver small batches of parts direct to the production line, and even handle on-site subassemblies.
Bils Deroo claims to offer customers a fast and responsive service, but cost is also a major factor.
