Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedHigh demand squeezes BMW.
Automotive News Europe, August, 2002 by Crate, James; Kurylko, Diana
BMW plants in Germany have not closed for Europe's cherished August vacation. Instead, they are working through breakfast and lunch breaks to meet demand for BMW vehicles, Chairman Helmut Panke says.
That demand is expected to remain strong as growth in premium segments widely outstrips the rest of the market for many years, according to the 55-year-old chairman.
"There currently is no limit in sight to our growth," Panke said. "We have to continue to grow in our existing segments while also increasing our footprint in the market with new products."
