Robert Lutz says General Motors does not believe in world cars, but rather in flexible "architectures" adapted to local needs.
Speaking at a California seminar, the GM vice chairman and product czar said the company is abandoning the "platform" as a way of defining what attributes GM vehicles share.
A GM platform has been a rigid set of hard points of the same length and width, with common suspension systems. Brand differentiation is only possible through changes in sheet metal and trim.
