Daimler-Chrysler veteran Stefan Buchner has been named head of global procurement and supply for Mitsubishi Motors.

Buchner, 42, takes over from Harald Boelstler, who will become vice president of Mercedes-Benz passenger car purchasing. Boelstler will be responsible for Mercedes' global procurement activities.

Boelstler was responsible for the dissolution of the close-knit Mitsubishi Kashiwa-Kai suppliers organization this summer.
