Zaragoza upgrade

General Motors is investing [euro]480 million to upgrade its plant in Zaragoza, Spain, for production of the new Opel Meriva.

The small minivan will be built on a new assembly line beginning in January 2003.

Zaragoza produces the Corsa and components for the Corsa, Corsa van and Combo models built at Eisenach, Germany, and Azambuja, Portugal.

Zaragoza will continue to build the Corsa, but the supermini's future at the plant depends on levels of demand for the Meriva.
