Opel's niche future

Opel plans to launch two new niche models - a coupe-roadster in 2004 and a trendy, four-wheel-drive, crossover sport-utility the following year.

The coupe-roadster (above) will feature a retractable steel roof. It will be produced by French coachbuilder Heuliez. The crossover SUV is code-named Blue Car. It will use parts from the Astra and will replace the dated Frontera SUV.

In 2005 or 2006, Opel also plans to launch a four-wheel-drive version of the Zafira compact minivan to rival the Renault Scenic RX4.
