The Toyota and PSA/Peugeot-Citroen small-car plant in the Czech Republic is close to selecting Tier 1 suppliers for its 2005 startup.

"We will finish choosing suppliers by January of next year," said Tetsuya Yamada, spokesman for Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobile (TPCA), the joint venture company.

Selected suppliers will be able to buy space in the industrial zone adjacent to the new factory in Kolin, which is 60km east of Prague.

TPCA's new plant will occupy 120 hectares, leaving about 100 hectares for suppliers.
