Siemens gets head-up display ready for 2003.(Suppliers)

Siemens VDO Automotive will supply a head-up display system in a high-volume production vehicle next year.

Gerhard Wesner, CEO driver information systems for passenger cars, said getting head-up display systems into volume production has taken longer than expected, but the first units will appear in 2003 on an unspecified new vehicle.

"Technology is often dependent on price," he said. "[Since automakers have upgraded] safety systems, there is greater interest in driver information."
