Richard Murray, president of Peugeot Japon, has a problem other import-car managers would love to have.

Keeping up with 30-percent sales growth year after year is "bloody hard," Murray said.

Peugeot's Japan sales are the envy of other importers. In an overall market that has been flat or worse, Peugeot expects a ninth straight record sales year. So far this year, its 27 percent sales gain makes it the No. 5 import brand in Japan, behind Volvo and ahead of Audi.
