Freudenberg awaits shakeout in sealing.(Suppliers)

Freudenberg plans to use its size, technology prowess and global alliances to prosper in an anticipated consolidation of the sealing segment.

"The supplier concentration process is only starting [among automotive sealing suppliers]," said Jorg Sost, chairman of Freudenberg Seals and Vibration Control.

Sost expects the same type of shakeout in sealing over the next few years as other segments such as seating have already experienced. Small, localized suppliers are poorly positioned to survive, he believes.
