An unprecedented number of European auto suppliers are for sale, say industry executives and analysts.

But that doesn't mean a record number of deals will be done in 2003.

"It's a little embarrassing," said the CEO of one very large European supplier earlier this month. "I could buy almost anyone I wanted, but that's not a good thing. It's quite unhealthy."
