Fuel-efficient Yaris due in Europe
TOKYO - Toyota will bring to Europe in 2003 a revamped Yaris supermini that has already achieved the best fuel economy in its class in Japan.
The Yaris uses a newly developed 1.3-liter engine, a continuously variable transmission and a system that stops its engine to prevent idling in traffic jams. Toyota claims the Yaris can travel 25.5km on a liter of fuel.
In Japan, the model, known as the Vitz, will go on sale in February with a price of 1.32 million yen, or about [euro]10,600.
