Three top Fiat executives are trying to negotiate a financial rescue plan for Fiat Auto with General Motors, but it is unclear if they can break the deadlock.
Fiat group Chairman Paolo Fresco, CEO Alessandro Barberis and Chief Financial Officer Ferruccio Luppi flew to New York for a Sunday (February 23) meeting with GM President and CEO Rick Wagoner and Chief Financial Officer John Devine. Once again, the Italians will try to win GM's approval of their plan to raise [euro]5 billion.
