Daihatsu will export a tiny roadster to the UK and Australia this summer.

Following a successful launch in Japan, Daihatsu is confident that the turbocharged Copen will be successful in other right-hand-drive markets. Volume is apparently too low and design and tooling costs too high for Daihatsu to consider producing a left-hand-drive version.

The Toyota subsidiary plans to export "several hundred" Copen models a month beginning as early as July, said Daihatsu President Takaya Yamada.
