Mercedes-Benz's plans to sell two cars in the United States specifically tailored to American tastes.
The next-generation Mercedes-Benz A class, due in autumn 2004, will include a body style designed for the US market, according to Joachim Schmidt, responsible for worldwide sales and marketing.
The American version will be assembled in the A-class factory in Rastatt, Germany. "It won't be available before 2005, at the earliest," Schmidt said.
He declined to give details but said the US version of the car would:
